The Frontline Standard™

A better way to understand what you're actually buying.

Most homeowners start the same way.

They collect a few fence quotes, compare materials, look at the totals and try to figure out why one company costs more than another.

The problem is that most quotes don’t show you the decisions that can have the greatest effect on the finished fence.

Two proposals can describe what appears to be the same fence while representing very different approaches to how that fence will actually be built.

The Frontline Standard™ was created to make those differences easier to understand — and to establish the non-negotiables we believe should remain in every Frontline installation.

Many of those decisions are invisible once the project is complete

The fence you see is only part of the system.

A finished fence can look simple.

Posts. Rails. Panels. Boards. Hardware.

But behind that finished appearance are dozens of smaller decisions involving layout, spacing, materials, fastening, structural support, site conditions and installation methods.

Many of those decisions are invisible once the project is complete.

That doesn’t make them unimportant.

In many cases, they’re the decisions that determine how the system behaves as seasons change, materials move and the property ages.

Every Construction Decision Involves a Tradeoff.

How standard practice changes over time.

Here’s something most homeowners never have a reason to think about.

Manufacturers design fencing systems around certain installation assumptions.

Once those products reach the field, installation practices can drift.

Sometimes those changes improve efficiency. Sometimes they reduce material use or waste. Sometimes they reduce labour and installation time. Sometimes a particular method simply becomes common practice because that’s how the industry has learned to build it.

Those changes aren’t necessarily obvious when you look at the finished fence.

And they aren’t necessarily obvious when you’re comparing quotes.

But every construction decision involves a tradeoff.

Change spacing and you change the way loads move through the system.

Change material or fastening choices and you change how components interact.

Remove a step that appears unnecessary and you may save time today while changing how the system behaves later.

Individually, these can seem like very small decisions.

Across an entire fence system, they add up.

Small decisions. Compounding results.

Frontline has spent years looking at what happens after installation day — not just on our projects, but across the types of fencing systems we work with.

We’ve paid attention to where systems move, where materials deteriorate early, where alignment changes, where components become vulnerable and where common installation practices create avoidable weaknesses.

Then we asked a different question:

What would we change if the goal wasn’t simply to install the fence efficiently, but to protect the homeowner’s outcome over the years that follow?

That thinking became the Frontline Standard™.

Our Non-negotiables

The Frontline Standard™ is a set of installation principles we have chosen not to compromise simply to make a project cheaper or faster.

Depending on the system, that can mean:

More deliberate spacing

We don’t automatically accept common field spacing simply because it has become standard practice.

Additional structural support

Where experience tells us additional support matters, we add it — including components and reinforcement you may never see once the fence is complete.

Additional fastening where it matters

Some of the smallest components in a fence can have an outsized effect on how the complete system behaves.

Material choices based on the application

We select components based on the job they’re being asked to do, rather than assuming one material or method is appropriate everywhere.

Site-specific planning

Grade, soil, exposure, drainage, layout and surrounding structures can change how a fence should be approached.

Installation steps we don’t remove for convenience

If we believe a step materially protects the finished result, it stays part of our process.

Some of these choices require more material.

Some require more labour.

Some simply require more thought before installation begins.

They’re there for a reason.

They’re there for a reason.

doing the work properly

Doing it right the first time.

The Frontline Standard™ isn’t about adding complexity for the sake of complexity.

It’s about deciding which details matter and then refusing to quietly remove them when they become inconvenient.

There’s an older idea in construction that we still believe has value:

Do the work properly the first time.

Not because every fence needs to be overbuilt.

Not because there is only one acceptable way to install every product.

But because the homeowner shouldn’t unknowingly inherit the consequences of shortcuts they couldn’t see when comparing estimates.

That’s the difference we’re trying to make visible.

understand the decision

What this changes about getting a fence quote.

We don’t want your Frontline consultation to feel like someone measuring your yard, selecting a material and handing you a number.

It should help you understand the decision you’re making.

We’ll walk you through:

  • the system you’re considering
  • common failure points we’ve seen
  • relevant conditions on your property
  • the installation choices that matter
  • realistic material and maintenance expectations
  • where Frontline’s approach differs
  • which Ownership Pathway best fits what you actually want from the property

You don’t need to become a fence expert.

You should simply have enough information to make an informed comparison.

Then price becomes one part of the decision instead of the only visible difference between quotes.

One standard. Different Ownership Pathways.

The Frontline Standard™ doesn’t mean every fence should be built from the same material or using exactly the same system.

Different homeowners want different things.

PostGuard Heritage™

For homeowners who want the natural warmth and character of cedar approached as a long-term ownership system.

Everlast™

For homeowners who prioritize visual consistency and lower maintenance.

Hybrid Cedar

For homeowners who want cedar character with additional structural refinement.

Guardian™

For properties where openness, architectural simplicity and lower-maintenance perimeter definition matter.

The system changes.
The commitment to the non-negotiables doesn’t.

Make the decision with more information.

You don’t need to know every fastening method, spacing specification or structural detail before requesting pricing.

That’s our job.

Our job during the consultation is to show you the differences that matter, explain the choices we’ve made and help you decide whether those differences matter to you.

Because when two fences look similar on a quote, you should understand what you’re actually comparing.
